Peter is the longest serving committee member of the BTS.\u00a0 He specialises in the genus Poecilotheria<\/em> and the author of several papers.\u00a0 His role is to steer the BTS and to ensure it remains at the forefront of the hobby.<\/span><\/p>\n Vice -Chairman: <\/strong>Ray Hale<\/p>\n Ray has served the BTS for over thirty years and during that time has organised the highly successful BTS Exhibition with wife Angela.\u00a0 They remain committed to the hobby and the society.\u00a0 His passion\u00a0 for the Asian tarantulas of the genus Haplopelma<\/em> and Selenocosmia <\/em>has\u00a0led himself and Angela to travel to South East Asia many times. Ray is a natural history lecturer and spends as much time as he can lecturing on cruise ships.<\/span><\/p>\n Secretary<\/strong>: Angela Hale<\/p>\n Angela has held the position of BTS Secretary for many years and continues to promote the society at events throughout the country.\u00a0 She is known as “Tarangela” by her colleagues at Drusillas Zoo. She has recently retired form the Zoo but returns to carry out spider related experience and specialises in the South American species of tarantula.\u00a0 She has been keeping and breeding tarantulas for over forty years.She now teaches art on cruise ships.<\/span><\/p>\n Webmaster<\/strong>: Mark Pennell<\/p>\n Mark has been with the BTS for many years and runs the BTS Website. He was instrumental in making the BTS the first tarantula society in the world to have its own web presence.\u00a0 He continues to strive to keep the BTS at the forefront of the web.\u00a0 Mark has lead many expeditions to Malaysia, Sarawak and Sabah. He is also a fine tattoo artist ! Lectures Organiser<\/strong>: Kim Pennell<\/p>\n Although Kim admits that she doesn’t really like tarantulas she organises the successful BTS Lectures that are held in Bristol each year.\u00a0 The lectures are an opportunity to listen to and meet some of the worlds leading arachnologists.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Committee Member<\/b>: Martin Nicholas<\/p>\n TV’s Martin Nicholas as he is known to the BTS has the unenviable role of PR.\u00a0 He is often contacted by the media when a potential tarantula story breaks.\u00a0 His secondary role is the marketing of the BTS Merchandise<\/span>.<\/p>\n Anne Coltham and Ray Gabriel<\/strong><\/p>\n Ray is well known to many of you and along with his partner Anne they bring new ideas and experience to the BTS.<\/p>\n Mike Stick and Katherine Strick<\/strong><\/p>\n Mike and Katherine have taken over the role of membership administrators. It’s a thankless task but theses guys are good.<\/p>\n Amy Freeman<\/strong><\/p>\n Amy joins us and brings with her her amazing skills as a You Tuber and Tech wizard.<\/p>\n Tim Baxter<\/strong><\/p>\n Tim joins us new for 2024 as our resident Scorpion expert. Im sure most of you will know Tim.
